Have to say, most of this is really true. Sometimes it takes extra time to get to know people as they have to let down their guard first. There are many people in the US who are not trustworthy for one reason or another and so sometimes it does take time to feel comfortable around someone new. Trust, most of the time, has to be built rather than freely offered. Sad but a product of the culture also.
