There are definitely bots here on Medium. A lot of times you can spot them because their comments are so generic or spammy.
I personally think there will be stops put in place to control AI writing. As far the calculators, at least everyone is in the know about using them. I think the biggest factor going forward will be disclosure of AI, that way the individual reader can decide whether they want to give the writing merit or not.
