Wow, this is really well written! When I had my daughter, the university hospital and clinic I went to had a medical school. Whenever I was there for my check-ups and even during the delivery I was always asked if I minded if medical students sat in. At first it was jarring, but then I got used to it. After a while I started making jokes about inviting the accounting students in as well. Not quite the same, but that's the closest I can get to perhaps relating.
